How It All Started
KreisKlang didn’t begin with a product – it started with a problem
During an advanced mathematics course at TU Berlin, Jannik and Miguel (known as Mad Miguel) engaged in a discussion about sound design. Miguel, a seasoned co-producer with experience collaborating with top EDM mainstage artists, remarked, “Everything sounds the same.”
Miguel wasn’t merely expressing frustration; he identified a recurring pattern: identical presets, repetitive processing chains, and consistent limitations. It became evident that the issue wasn’t a lack of creativity but rather the constraints of the tools available. Beneath the surface, plugin technology had seen minimal evolution.
Jannik, a computer scientist, envisioned a synthesizer capable of representing complex mathematical functions while remaining user-friendly and computationally efficient. This innovative concept laid the groundwork for Fabrik. Collaborating with Erik, a fellow mathematician, they developed the initial prototype.
Alpha Phase
Upon presenting the prototype to Miguel, he promptly began testing and enlisted a diverse group of producers, ranging from seasoned professionals to casual users. We organized online sessions, observing artists unfamiliar with Fabrik as they navigated the interface without guidance. Their interactions provided invaluable insights, highlighting areas for improvement and shaping the core of Fabrik during this alpha phase.
The next step was the beta phase.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our Alpha Testers:
David Feldman, Madzi, Martin Stevenson, Mo Falk, Phantomhouse, Reeva, Rudelies, Toxic Wraith, anna maria, bonsaijodelfish, Fraxy, Laeko, Lucch, Maria Soulberger, Max, Mave, Maxomar, MHA, MAEDM, PaulchenPanther256, Phil Hermez, Bitwise, Siik, James Oliver & Tom Finster.
Beta 1 Phase
Following the development of a stable version, we initiated a closed beta. The release of our first Youtube video marked a turning point, attracting hundreds of producers to our waiting list. Many also joined the Discord server. This beta phase became a hub for feedback, offering insights into market expectations, competitive landscapes, and, crucially, highlighting the unique value Fabrik provided.

Beta 2 Phase
Months of iteration and user feedback led to Beta 2, where we introduced the Post-Processing Graph, a second signal section for advanced routing, effects, and creative experimentation. Watch it in action.
This update introduced unprecedented freedom in sound design. Tools such as Signal Delay made complex cross-routing intuitive and stable, but the real breakthrough was the ability to route signals from post-processing back into the voice section. This kind of feedback loop, not supported in traditional synths, opened the door to techniques like physical modeling, enabling users to recreate resonant systems and acoustic behaviors with remarkable realism.
Here’s a video that shows how to design a realistic horn sound in just a few minutes.

Now we are ready
We’ve kept testing. We’ve kept refining. And now, Fabrik is ready, not just as a product, but as a philosophy. It embodies the belief that sound design should be intuitive, expressive, and unbounded by tradition. Every knob, every node, every line of code reflects the feedback of a vibrant community and the obsession to push sonic possibilities further. Whether you’re crafting your first patch or exploring feedback loops and physical modeling, Fabrik is your space to experiment, to play, and to discover new frontiers in sound. This is just the beginning, and we can’t wait to hear what you create.

Onward with gratitude
We’re incredibly proud of how far Fabrik has come, and we want to share a bit of that journey with you. Together with our video editor GESO, whose sharp eye and dedication help us craft high-quality visual content, we’ve begun producing weekly videos to dive deeper into sound design, features, and the creative possibilities Fabrik offers. These videos are a way for us to stay connected with our community and share the thinking, tools, and techniques behind what we build. You will be able to find them on our YouTube channel, where we’re building a growing library of insights for producers and sound designers.
Here’s one of our favorites that captures the heart of the story:
